چکیده

Abstract The accumulation of soil-borne pathogens is the main driving factor negative plant-soil feedbacks (NPSFs), which seriously restricts sustainable development agriculture. Using natural volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from plants or microorganisms as biofumigants an emerging strategy to alleviate NPSFs in environmentally-friendly way. Here, we identified ?-terpineol VOCs pine needles, confirmed ability fumigation alleviating NPSF Panax notoginseng via significantly reducing seed decay rate, and also deciphered underlying mechanism by soil microbial community modified. ?-Terpineol could suppress culturable fungi but enrich bacteria a dose-dependent manner. Network analysis with high-throughput sequencing data revealed that distinctly modify both fungal bacterial communities. In detail, suppressed relative abundance Ascomycota 64.04 32.26%, enriched Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria Actinobacteria. Subnetwork further demonstrated directly indirectly plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPRs). vitro co-culture experiments isolates validated these findings. antagonism between beneficial pathogens, synergistic growth promotion among ?-terpineol-enriched might be involved assembly. summary, NPSFs, especially suppressing enriching bacteria. This study suggests products are worth developing due their multiple functions modifying community.

Suppressing antagonistic bioengineering feedbacks doubles restoration success.

In a seagrass restoration project, we explored the potential for enhancing the restoration process by excluding antagonistic engineering interactions (i.e., biomechanical warfare) between two ecosystem engineers: the bioturbating lugworm Arenicola marina and the sediment-stabilizing seagrass Zostera noltii Hornem. Applying a shell layer underneath half of our seagrass transplants successfully r...

Relatedness is a poor predictor of negative plant–soil feedbacks

Understanding the mechanisms underlying negative plant-soil feedbacks remains a critical challenge in plant ecology. If closely related species are more similar, then phylogeny could be used as a predictor for plant species interactions, simplifying our understanding of how plant-soil feedbacks structure plant communities, underlie invasive species dynamics, or reduce agricultural productivity....

Chemical Diversity of Panax ginseng, Panax quinquifolium, and Panax notoginseng

The major commercial ginsengs are Panax ginseng Meyer (Korean ginseng), P. quinquifolium L. (American ginseng), and P. notoginseng (Burk.) FH Chen (Notoginseng). P. ginseng is the most commonly used as an adaptogenic agent and has been shown to enhance physical performance, promote vitality, increase resistance to stress and aging, and have immunomodulatory activity. These ginsengs contain sapo...

Soil-Plant Metal Relations in Panax notoginseng: An Ecosystem Health Risk Assessment

This study features a survey of the content of heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cr, As, Hg and Cu) in root and cultivation soils of Panax notoginseng (P. notoginseng), carried out in China's Yunnan Province. The average contents of Pb, Cd, Cr, As, Hg, and Cu in the soil were 61.6, 0.4, 102.4, 57.1, 0.3, and 35.1 mg·kg-1, respectively. The heavy metals' pollution indexes can be ranked as follows: As > Cd >...

Determination of Panax notoginseng Saponins

The feasible, reliable and selective multi-template molecularly imprinted polymers (MT17 MIPs) based on SBA-15 (SBA-15@MT-MIPs) for the selective separation and determination of the 18 trace level of ginsenoside Rb1 (Rb1), ginsenoside Rg1 (Rg1) and notoginsenoside R1 (R1) (Panax 19 notoginseng saponins, PNS) from biological samples were developed. The polymers were 20 constructed by SBA-15 as s...
